We’re looking for a committed individual to join our Local Governing Body (LGB) and play a key role in supporting our Academy’s vision. Whether you are an experienced professional or simply passionate about Education, your perspective matters. If you’re ready to contribute your skills and enthusiasm, we’d encourage you to apply for this opportunity.

The LBG must operate, collectively and in the best interest of the students. The LGB’s function is to monitor, encourage and challenge the educational performance and management of the Academy and to work with Trustees in the matters of governance. This is a demanding task for which all Governors need to have, or develop, relevant and appropriate skills.

Our Governing Body is currently made up of 12 members. These members are co-opted governors, parent governors and staff governors. They meet 7 times per year and their role is to provide support and to challenge the Senior Leadership Team.

Chair of Governors – Neil Faunch
Vice Chair of Governors – Brendan O ’Riley
Staff Governors – Susan Kirkwood and Claire Aldridge
Clerk to the Governing Body – Carly Marshall (Office Manager)

Governors periodically visit the Academy to meet with staff to perform part of their role, this includes Learning Walks and Linked Visits. Please review The Role of the Governor Guide prior to completing your application form, to further understand what the position entails.

The successful applicant will be subject to the following checks:

• A childcare disqualification check will be required, if involved in the management of provision
• A Section 128 check

• Other relevant checks identified in DfE Keeping Children Safe in Education as appropriate e.g. Overseas criminal records check

Application forms should be returned in a sealed envelope to Carly Marshall, Governance Professional marked ‘Private & Confidential’ via Reception. Alternatively, you can submit your application form via email to c.marshall@eda.staffs.sch.uk by 9am on Monday 8th June.

Deadline: 8th June 2026
